My next desired destination was Brugge in Belgium, but quite a journey from Geithoorn, so a couple of nights were required to break the journey. Utrecht, another historical town built around a river system.
Easily walked from the train station, this was an attractive town. Retailers seemed proud of their window displays, and created a very nice visual whilst exploring.
The Dom Tower is the main feature, with a tour (Dom Under) that takes you below the city, witnessing evidence of Roman inhabitants many centuries ago.
