Karnak Temple at Luxor is quite impressive, more so that the cities namesake Luxor Temple, and (sort of) connected to Luxor Temple by an long avenue of Sphinx which has large sections built-over by roads, churches, mosques and buildings.
Take the time, if possible, to head all the way to the back, and truly explore this wonderous site. Restoration work was underway when I visited, but did not restrict access to many extra halls and rooms that revealed much colour and splendor.
Certainly one of the highlights of the 12 days around Egypt.
