Growing upĀ in sub tropical Queensland Australia does not avail any local snow experience, and being southern hemisphere, December is summer time, so to fulfill a White Christmas Bucket List intention, we had to travel. I have no doubt many take such an experience for granted, but for us it was possibly a once in a lifetime family opportunity.
So after a trip to New York & Orlando, we boarded a plane on Christmas eve for Kelowna Canada, to check into Big White. You could say it would be a Big White Xmas ! Sorry about the poor pun…
We got stuck in Seattle due to weather issues, but made it to Big White for Xmas celebrations, staying a week there before adding a week at Sun Peaks Resort.
We stayed at the Grizzly Lodge at Big White, and after sharing presents, enjoyed watching the snow gently falling past the windows, before gearing up and hitting the slopes.
No doubt a white xmas experience at your own home, tree decorated and lined with pressy’s would be better again, but mixed with skiing, this was a memorable Bucket List experience.
