I am returning to Baden-Baden on this trip, originally a lunch stop on a black forest drive-day, this time a few nights to indulge in the spas and its Christmas Market
So coming out of Vienna, heading to Dresden, the start of my German Christmas Markets route, I put Bohemian Spa Towns on the itinerary. Marianske Lazne, and Karlovy Vary.
The Esana Nove Lazne in Marianske Lazne was a no-brainer. A large elegant Hotel with its own Roman Baths, connected to 3 other hotels giving guests access to a huge variety of wellness experiences.
Thoroughly entrenched in snow at this point, there seemed little reason to leave the hotel.
Moving on to Karlovy Vary, I checked into the Astoria Hotel & Medical Spa. Not to the grandeur of Esana Nova Lazne, but a great central location on the Tepla River, giving simple access to most everything you would want, including its main Christmas Markets right outside the front door.
In both places, booking treatments in advance is highly recommended.
