Iceland – Gullfoss 2016

Some attractions build a high expectation, and Gullfoss did not disappoint. A truly amazing and powerful waterfall, uniquely cascading front and side into a ravine.

The best views of Gullfoss are actually from the lower carpark edge, taking in the grandure of these falls, but, since you are there, a walk to the face is in order, and there are a few different spots that offer further prospective of the different angles this waterfall takes.

Travel Tips. There is free parking at the visitors centre, where you can view from the nigh ridges, or walk down a long flight of stairs to be able to walk a track to the face of the upper section of the falls. If you want to avoid the stairs, there is an access road a little before the visitor centre turnoff, which will take you to a carpark at the bottom of these stairs, making it a much easier access for some.
