As this Europe trip draws to an end, I intended to visit the new Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo as a path home, yet continued delays took that off the List (for now) and I needed a replacement.
With Swiss Air becoming the final good-value BC flight out of Oslo, I looked for an easy pivot from Stockholm for a few days; and Gdansk on the north of Poland became the choice. With little research or expectation……
You have to take a plunge every now & then. Gdansk turned out to be (mostly) beautiful. Elegant architecture and old world buildings along the Motlawa & Old Town.
Also discovered that Gdansk is apparently the World Capital for Amber, and provides no shortage of jewelry & homewares featuring the stone.
Yet another city however that shuts down a lot for Winter. And then uses this time to do major construction works, including all along riverside 🙁
Some first-check appealing cruises, including a Black Pearl pirate ship cruise, simply shut down until around April. Walking the Long Market, there is little shortage of tourists; so it astounds me the decisions made by tourism focused operators. Ahhhh, Travel.
WILT – What I am listening to ?
Don’t try to read too much into these WILT’s, it’s often just that earworm from my music library
