I sort-of expected Salzburg to be a smaller Vienna, but not even close.
The Old Town is tucked into a sheer-cliff mountain range, home to Fortress Hohensalzburg & a Monestary/Katacombs to touch the surface.
Stunning churches, countless passageways between buildings, and just about every square hosting a Christmas Market at this time of year. Ultimately, Salzburg is famous for being the birthplace of Mozart; and The Sound of Music.
With lots of things closed on Christmas day (understandably), I was surprised to find Panorama Tours, were still running their first & original Sound of Music Tour. What a fun way to spend Christmas day !
April our guide, was an utter bundle of joy, with a very good singing voice and cheeky quick wit. Taking us to movie locations, with lots of well crafted insight to the classic movie and actors.
I equally had the pleasure of meeting and spending most of that tour with this lovely family from Toronto.
As I have mentioned before, its the people you meet along the way that so-often become the best memories of travel.
Here they stand beaming, at the top of the Do-Re-Mi stairs to Mirabell Gardens.
People forget the years, but remember the Moments
and Little moments make Big Memories
My AirBnB Superhost Karin, surpassed every expectation, making a solo traveler feel like visiting family for Christmas.
Salzburg, you were something special.

WILT – What I am listening to ?
Don’t try to read too much into these WILT’s, it’s often just that earworm from my music library
