Making my way to Germany and a series of Christmas market towns, Luxembourg appealed as a stop along the way. It’s own country and heritage, and a striking landscape.
Christmas Markets opened about a day before my arrival, and involved the town square, an ice rink adjacent, and a Markets Fair on the ravine edge. Bright, colourful, festive with entertainment on stages; and a lovely start on the lead up to Christmas.
It’s an easy town to walk, bridges over the ravine make passage from town to the Centraal Station simple enough, and the more energenic could venture into the Barrio Grund for greater exposure to the heritage along the Alzette River.
A delightful way to start the Christmas trail.
