Venturing to the south of Wales, Pembroke Castle was an easy choice for a break from driving.
For a smaller than usual entry fee, you get to experience a lot of this castle. Walk the ramparts, walk the tunnels under the ramparts, climb the multiple towers to the very top for some spectacular views of the surrounds, and enjoy a cake & tea at the better than usual Café.
Castles are often accessible, but with more than half closed off to the public. A disappointment all too often; but not here. This was a highlight.
