Sun Peaks Resort is about an hour drive northeast of Kamloops. A brilliant ski resort with 3 mountains and a good balanced variety of trails and skill levels. So what’s it like in summer ?
Owned by Nippon Cable, it’s no surprise there is an 18 hole golf course, and the ski base becomes a driving range in summer. They also do the mountain biking, but that was fairly thinly attended during my mid-week stay.
In contrast to Whistler, Sun Peaks was green, grass and wildflowers in abundance. With nearly 600 permanent residents, the village was half open during the week, with most shops noting weekend hours. Better than I had expected.
My indulgent activity here was enjoying a 3hr Off Road Segway Tour, a truly unique experience, venturing out along home trails to some excellent views and to see ski trails in summer.
A fair degree of development provides many options for living here, and a continued follow of their master plan ensures much appeal for years to come.
