Silver Star Resort is an easy 20 to 30 minute drive out from Vernon, and only about an hour from Kelowna with it’s international airport.
Silver Star uniquely is a mid mountain resort, not as large as Sun Peaks or Whistler, but frankly, has better grooming than Whistler and in general, a better setup of ski runs, and much better gladeing.
For summer, over 100km of mountain bike trails are on offer including the 35km called Beowolf. Clearly popular even mid week during my 3 day stay.
Home to about 400 permanent residents, it too has an updated master plan with lots of potential for future appeal, not that it’s missing much appeal already 🙂
Vernon as a support town to Silver Star is also a very nice place to visit and stay, with some world class golf like Predator Ridge, and lakes & beaches. Really, what more could you ask for ?
