Last site to enjoy in Scotland, was the ruins of Melrose Abbey, the home to the Hart of Robert the Bruce.
Parking nearby was at a premium, scarce, but a couple drives around the block finally availed a space to put the car away and visit the site.
Much like my Dunnottar Castle experience, it was refreshing to see the abbey in its natural state. The building does include an ability to climb a set of stone stairs to the rooftop, and while it’s little physically demanding and at times a little scary, the platform at the top feels very secure and avails a wonderful view of the abbey grounds and surround.
