Travel The Bucket List

Scotland Loch Ness & Loch Lomond

How can you visit Scotland without visiting Loch Ness ?

Easy really, as mentioned before, there is no sense spending time anywhere that does interest YOU; no matter how famous it may be.

Loch Ness was on my bucket list, partly for the legend of Nessie, but more because it’s a beautiful body of water; and home to Urquart Castle.

I took 2 nights out to slow down little and enjoy a couple of different tours on Loch Ness.  The first tour was from Jacobite harbor, and included a drop off and collect from Urquart Castle, giving me an hour to explore the ruins of this delightful and strategicly important site.

A short drive south of there had me staying at Fort Augustus, with the view of doing a RIB tour from the southern end; which looped to Urquart Castle, without stopping off there. RIB Tours are great. Smooth, quick, a comfortable way see a lot in a shorter time.

They both explained the Loch can be quite rough at times, but I was blessed with good weather and smooth waters.

A few days later, I stayed at Loch Lomond, and did a boat tour out of Luss. A simple ferry which puttered around the islands at the eastern section of Loch Lomond. The tour operator was ordinary, as was the boat, but the islands and backdrops, in still waters; was as much as expected, and picture worthy.

For me, there is something calming about water, a reason for moving to beachfront back home, but also a focus of my life. If wall liked the same things, it would be pretty boring huh :- )
