Travel The Bucket List

Revelstoke in Summer

In my years of travelling to BC Canada to ski, I have never ventured east of Big White, so with my own vehicle and clear roads, this was the time to explore and get a sense of what else was available.

So that brings me to Revelstoke Ski Resort, about 2½ hours northeast of Kelowna, renowned for it’s more challenging skiing.

What I did not expect, was for the township to be only 10 minutes from the ski field, and a very easy drive compared to climbing twisting mountain road accesses. So this was quite a different experience, as Revelstoke itself was fabulous as a stand alone town.

The Village Idiot

The Village Idiot

One of my best simple dining experiences came from here, The Village Idiot. A pub restaurant that offered great food and genuine service, setting a benchmark for others in town.

The Revelstoke Ski Resort village itself is much smaller than the ones I have visited so far, but with the town only minutes away, being on-mountain is less of an issue.

On the way to Revelstoke, I stopped by the Giant Cedars Boardwalk for a stretch, and easy walk through a very nice forestry.

And on the way out from Revelstoke, I enjoyed a few hours at Meadows in The Park before heading on to Kicking Horse
