High above the beautiful town of Alesund, sits this famous lookout, Aksla.
You have a choice to drive up to a carpark level with this lookout, OR, climb 418 steps from Alesund. Sounds daunting, but it isn’t that bad really. I have experienced much steeper stairs, and someone thought it would be a good idea to have the number on some of the stairs, which aids to your encouragement and expectation of how much longer is needed.
The stairs also have a few stopping points with their own unique view, along with much appreciated seats for the weary.
This really is a “must visit” location. I was told sunsets are a great time to be there, but I only got there in the morning, and the light was amazing over the surrounds.
