Travel The Bucket List

Niagra Falls 2004

A trip across the USA saw an opportunity to fly into Toronto and take the short drive down to Niagra Falls. Staying at the Marriott seemed to be a good location, but once we saw the view from the room, wow was that the right choice. (photo below)

Niagra Falls is one of those Bucket List items that can’t fail to impress. Awe inspiring natural attraction, the sheer volume and power of the water is stunning.

It has also been setup well for viewing, including the Skylon Tower and cliffside walkways with an ability to get surprisingly close to the action.

Ok, so now we have seen it, what else is there to do ? Well, downtown Niagra Falls is best described as a Theme Park. I somehow thought we would find a quaint old world village, but no, Tussauds Waxworks, Canadian Midway, Ripley’s and more in abundance will keep the kids entertained.

Concierge suggested a drive out of town to see the Botanic Gardens and Butterfly Conservatory, which lead to the quaint little village of Niagra On The Lake, sort of what we expected to find, old world shops including an excellent Christmas shoppe and a tree lined main street. A delightful day trip away.

You have to do the Maid Of The Mist of course.
