I arrove at Dublin Castle, first Wednesday of the month, not realising it was a Free entry day for the public. Great, but, no guided tours. I had a quick walk around the state apartments, and quickly realised I would get much more out the guided tour, so I wrapped it up and went to St Minchins Church.
Next day I returned to Dublin Castle after visiting Trinity College; and registered at the tour desk to attend the next available tour.
A thing about travel, you appreciate help at times, and in good karma, you should pay that forward. Sitting waiting, I could hear a small group working out which ticket they should buy, and where they intended to go next. I suggested they should buy the OPW Card here at Dublin Castle. Gathering they were driving around Ireland too, the OPW card included access to many sites, and while it made access slightly cheaper, it more importantly made access quicker, as you did not have to wait in queues at the next attraction.
They appreciated the advice, and we chatted along the tour. I was not aware at the time, that I would run into them again on the road. More about that later, needless to say, what you put out, pleasantly comes back in so many ways. If only more people practiced random acts of kindness.
So, Dublin Castle. The Guided tour included accessing the excavations, and the Chapel; along with the State Apartments. (photos below). Well worth returning to see and appreciate in context with the guided commentary.
WILT – What I am listening to ?
Don’t try to read too much into these WILT’s, it’s often just that earworm from my music library
