Having enjoyed the car museums in Stuttgart, the BMW Museum & BMW Welt (World) in Munich was on my agenda, and after the Porsche Drive experience; I searched BMW’s website and discovered BMW On Demand; their version a similar experience.
I first considered an M6 Coupe, but when I came back to the website, an i8 showed itself as available. I quickly booked that in. 100 euro for an hour, or 3 hours would get you the vehicle for the day. This booking provided my bucket list fulfillment, driving a sports car on the autobahn.
A Tuesday this time, and while I encountered traffic getting onto the A9, once there and past some 100 to 120kph sections, it was open road, and open speed. Wow.
Again, as mentioned at Porsche Drive, winter tyres were fitted, so not to take it over 240kph, and this time, I remained conscience of that, comfortably bringing it up to over 220kph.
Yeah, it’s a bloke (man) thing. Any car or bike enthusiast would get their left one for such a unique experience.
Beyond that, Munich provided some other unique experiences. First day out walking encountered a “parade” of ghouls & demons; which even the kids were getting into. They would occassionally run up to scare and give you a quick trash with their canes; but all in good fun.
The Christmas Markets that ran from Marienplatz to Karlsplatz were festive as usual, but the backdrop of the Rathaus Town Hall in Marienplatz truly set the dramatic tone.
There was also a Christmas Market in the English Gardens, a huge parkland adjacent to the city, and well worth a walk and wander. Many dog owners had their pampered pooches out for exercise, which was nice to see as I am/was missing my pups; but the interesting discovery was finding how some locals were enjoying the man made river, as you do when you are hanging for a Surf.
Hope you enjoy this captured moment and the image from Munich below.
